The goal of the customer was to collect on-going operational data on refrigeration systems, display cases, HVAC systems, lighting and other equipment. Then to build applications around these operational data to
a) Monitor equipment operations & conditions at store
b) Conduct system diagnosis & alarm code interrogation
c) Control operation remotely where situation dictates
d) Notify store manager of the situation
e) Take corrective action by dispatching service technicians with local coordination of services to the store
The customer's engineering department was engaged in developing hardware solution to collect data from different equipments in a store.
It wanted help in

b) Defining an architecture to build the application around operational data
c) Defining integration strategy for the application with the hardware and other existing applications

The customer turned to Globalcase in helping to deliver the complete solution. Globalcase could build a team of diverse skills to take care of designing complete architecture, requirement analysis, data modeling, developing and deploying the application, designing the EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) strategy and complete program management. It could build this team within a very short time, who delivered the solution as per customer's time line.
The engineering department did not have any end users or domain experts involved in developing the solution. Hence the team played the dual role of users as well as analysts in determining requirements. It worked with the engineering group, developing hardware solution, in defining the data objects, message schemas and protocol for exchanging the messages with the monitoring application.
As the customer didn’t have any existing methodology and standards & guidelines for project development, the team laid out the complete development process, developed standards and guidelines to deliver quality solution. It developed the complete architecture and led through the complete development process to deliver the solution as per defined requirements and customer expectation.
The team worked with customers internal departments in finding out existing methodology and infrastructure. This helped in leveraging on the existing infrastructure and saving cost for the customer.
As the engineering department did not have required infrastructure for onsite resources, Globalcase used its own development center at onsite for facilitating the project development.
